We can read that conclusion
in so many different ways. From a business point
of view, One sales person's motivation may derive
from home and family, wanting to maintain and
improve lifestyles. Another sales person's motivation
may be as simple as keeping the job! a sales
person is constantly under pressure from others
and usually it cascades down through the ranks.
An Executive or Director is under pressure from
shareholders, board. ... and often their staff

Culture also dictates how we are
motivated and even two English speaking countries
like Britain and America have differing ways of motivation.
Different people respond to different
types of motivation. The 'carott and the stick' are
not the only tools available to motivate people.

It appears that no matter
whether you are a private individual, business
person or sportster, the mechanics of achieving
success are almost identicle.
It
may be fair to say that success is within all
of us, however channeling the success in the
right direction requires the right tools and
these are specialist tools. Not every Tom, Dick
or Harriet can use these tools and I dare say
that in the wrong hands, they can be dangerous.
It
isn't just an athletes legs that make him or
her run faster, it is an attitude that has been
developed with help from a professional using
the right tools. These tools may be courses
and workshops organised by people
performance specialists.

An other
aspect to success motivation is mentoring. A mentor
is a life coach, or business coach. Mentors are not
new but were, until recently exclusive to Heads of
State, Blue Chip business leaders and top sportsmen.
Besides working on a one to one basis, a mentor can
council groups such as business departments and teams.
Executive
Coaching and Mentoring is an essential part of
business development.
Business Trainer
Searching for a business
trainer can open up a mine field. What qualifies a
UK Business trainer? - Who
trains trainers to train?
It is very easy to
look at a consultant as someone you might ask the
time and he'll look at your watch to tell you. The
title 'consultant' is too often abused, 'Financial
Consultant' = Insurance Salesman and "Crime Prevention
Consultant" = Alarm Salesman.
A poor trainer may
also come into that scutiny - "those that can
do, do. Those than can't do train!"
Despite the glut
of self imposed trainers, businesses still deploy
the skills of reputable trainers and let's face it,
if you haven't got the background, expertise or reputation
you are not getting anywhere near the boardroom. Business
coaches are called-in because they not only understand
the mechanics of a commercial organisation but they
see issues from different angles.
We've all experienced
situations where a solution to a problem was right
under our nose and it took a third party or outsider
to identify it. As I began looking at case histories
where businesses have deployed the skills of a coach
and achieved dramatic results, some admitted to being
reluctant in the first instance to reach out, as if
it was a cry for help and then quickly realised that
it was no different than talking to a project manager.
Kings, Prime Ministers
and Presidents all use consultants often to resolve
political conflict and it isn't unusual for office
politics to prevent commercial progress and slowly
stagnate, totally under the noses of senior management.
It is only when 'an outsider' looks in and sees the
situation as it is that positive changes can be made.
Professional business consultants have the knack in
sourcing such issues.
Which is more important,
staff retention or customer retention ? - Does your
organisation have that fine balance ?
Do you feel that your business is suffering from high
staff turnover because they are not up to the job
... or could it be a deeper internal problem?
Are there any 'hidden stars' in your work force? -
Would a sounding board for creativity and innovation
bring them to the surface?
Could it be the fear of change that slows down positive
progression? An introduction to the acceptance of
change could be the answer.
Sometimes a business
appears to have 'peaked', it has reached its full
potention and the proud Board are riding on the crest
of a wave, only to find that the reality is ... things
are different on the shop floor.
A
business mentor can identify such issues, and
more whilst ensuring executives,
managers and staff performance are a success.
Peak performance
in the corporate arena can be as diverse as the following
issues:
Increasing
bottom line profitability
Higher effectiveness and efficiency in everything
that you do
Enhanced customer service and retention
Improved staff morale and lower staff turnover
Sounding board for creativity and innovation
New executive skills and decision making
Focused and effective strategic planning
Development of new cultural paradigm
Introduction and acceptance of change
Elimination of executive and employee stress
With better skills you will be able to overcome distractions,
low productivity, poor preparation, tension, low motivation,
negative imagery and self talk, ineffective goals,
prevent panic and generate a new profitable and customer
focused culture.
Deploying
the skills of a professional business coach is a positive
move. We take our cars for a service, not because
they are broken, but to tune and ensure performance
with reliabilty. When is your business's next service?
